March Events

Welcome! I have decided to give this blogging thing a try. It is intended to help me remember my life as it is now and to allow friends and family to read the latest and greatest in the Cummings’ house.

The month of March has been extremely busy and full of excitement, and we aren’t even through to April yet! We did some traveling to visit family and old friends of mine, hosted a casino party, and celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. And although it hasn’t happened yet, I can say that the best March weekend is yet to come. Robbie and I celebrate our one year anniversary on the 29th!

Bleiblerville, Texas
Most of you reading this may recognize this town as “Blabberville.” Robbie, Colbie, and I packed up what seemed to be our entire house and drove three hours to visit my mom. It was a beautiful day for fishing and hanging out on the pier. My brother spent the entire day fishing for Big Moe (fabled blue catfish), who yanked his rod and reel out of his hands the previous weekend. By the end of the day, I began to think he was pulling my leg about Big Moe. Later that night I got this picture-mail…

Sure enough, he caught Big Moe—a 42 pound blue catfish.

Colbie is the youngest of five generations. Amazing, right?

My grandmother (Ninny) plans to get the picture posted in the local newspaper.

I mentioned earlier that our one year anniversary is approaching, so Ninny surprised us with our wedding cake! Although frozen for an entire year, it was just as delicious as it was at our reception. Colbie is not old enough to taste cake, but she did suck on a strawberry and loved every moment of it.

My family and I are huge UT fans (Colbie is too, she just doesn’t know it yet). My mom bought her a UT cheerleading outfit, so of course, she had to model it. Call me bias, but she is the cutest little cheerleader I’ve ever seen!

I have a few more random pictures from the weekend that are worth sharing...

Tomball, Texas
The very next weekend we were on the road again. This time we headed to my hometown to see my dad and best friend Shana. Saturday night we attended Shana’s sister’s wedding. Colbie was very good at the wedding. She is usually in bed by 5pm, so I was worried we would have to skip the reception. To my surprise, she lasted until 8. It must have been the strawberries keeping her happy. As soon as we got back to my dad’s that night, Robbie wanted to play a game of pool with me. I have never been the best at billiards, but somehow I managed to beat him! It was awesome because I never win. My victory was short lived, as he beat me the rest of the night.

Colbie had her first encounter with a cow, and if you know my family, you know this will not be her last. Haha

Since we will not be able to travel to Tomball for Easter, Colbie got her basket early. The Easter Bunny (grandpa and grandma Lehker) brought her rubber duckies, a cute outfit with bunnies on the feet, and candy. Robbie was more excited about the candy, which happened to be his favorite—Reeses.

St. Patrick’s Day
This happens to be one of my favorite holidays, and it fell in the middle of Robbie’s spring break. Colbie went to school for half the day, but not without wearing green! We didn’t want the other babies pinching our little girl, hehe.

Grandma Cummings was our sitter for the night, and we are blessed to have her right around the corner for nights like this. Robbie and I met my brother in-law, Ryan, and friend, Nicole, at Mitchells. We played a few rounds of darts, drank some delicious green beer, and ended the night with two-steppin’ at The Thirsty Horse. Overall, it was a great night!

I love him.

Casino Night
This was the 2nd annual casino party here at the Cummings’ house. We have dual themes and the players choose to dress the part. As always, our friends have some crazy, funny ideas.

Our friends, Coy and Alyssa, proudly wearing their Hawaiian outfits.

We had four tables set up: Casino War, Three Card Poker, Casino Hold’em, and Blackjack. After the casino part was over, we hosted a Texas Hold’em tournament. My poker skills were not shining through that night, but luckily Robbie was able to walk away with some money.

The dealers: Nick, Robbie, George, and Russ.

The big winners of the night: Jeromy and Craig.

My best friend Shana and her husband were able to make it down for the party.

The night started at 7pm and ended around 3am. It was lots of fun.
Oh, and Colbie slept through the entire party!! We had about 35 people in our house, so you can imagine how loud it was. Robbie and I planned ahead and set up white noise in her room. Wow! It worked! We did have my mom there just incase she woke up. It was cute seeing my mom walk around with the monitor attached to her belt, like it was a pager.
